Residing on the very edge of the CandyCane forest, the gummybear people lived in peace for many centuries. The young attended first grade school, then high school, and finally the local university where the professors - a high esteemed group of prestigious Muskateers - taught them vigorously so that they, in the future, would have opportunity to gain any job of their choosing. The jobs in the community consisted mainly of vital things for every-day living, like candycane cutters and the laborers among the people. Keeping the community clean was the laborers' main duty, along with smaller jobs like delivering food to the bed-ridden and pregnant gummybears. There were also doctors, nurses, store managers, teachers, and the mothers that stayed home with their gummybear children. The gummybear people rarely ventured beyond the borders of their small countryside town, but a few brave gummybears attempted the feat. Little did they know what was waiting beyond the safety of their tiny lifestyles.
Near by, on the coast of the Jello sea, North of CandyCane forest, lies a small and ramshackle community of Sourpatch people. These people have lived along the green shores of gelatin for as long as the gummybears have bode in their Candycane-log cabins. Small and secluded but for a lonely and unused sea port, the sourpatch people hadn't had contact with the outside world for many, many years. They lived in one clan, fighting against Swedish Fish for food and sharing it with the whole community, really miniscule in size compared to the gummybear population. The sourpatch people had no reason to mingle with outer communities, and over all they liked their privacy. For those that don't know about the sourpatch people, they are mercilessly sour on the outside until you get to know them. Then they are sweet, and kind to most. Unfortunately for them, for those years lived in seclusion, all they'd had for social entertainment was themselves, not the most liked companions in all of Candy Land. Then the gummybears stumbled upon their dweeling and, on asking for mercy from the sourpatch people -for they had traveled long- they were welcomed as guests and treated justly with a vast feast of sweedish fish and wild gummy octopus. After the lively feast, the gummybears explained their purpose for seeking out the aide of their lost bretherin.
Weeks before, a giant, humanoid hand had been seen deep in the CandyCane forest. According to the woodsman, a green gummybear by the name of Alfred, the hand pulled a Great Green CandyCane from the ground, roots and all. This revelation that their home might soon be destroyed disturbed the gummybears greatly, and they sent their two bravest members of the community to seek out the help of the surrounding villages. They had no idea of the vast landscapes of Candy Land, for they hadn't had any mappers out their way in decades, maybe centuries. The two brave gummybears, a red one named Frank and a yellow one named Bill, ventured over the chocolate swamp and through gumdrop fields before they reached the Jello sea only to find a giant footprint in the sugary beach three miles down the coast from where the Sourpatch people lived.
After relaying their story to the Sourpatch people, Frank and Bill decided to rest their weary gelatine bones and sleep while the people's council discussed the situation. Despite being small, the council had heard by way of rumor that there was a gummybear colony just east of their dwelling. This gummybear colony had hid themselves carefully in the marshes of liquerice along the Jello sea where its green gelatin mixed with dark gooey liquid commonly called blueberry sauce. They, as rumor told, had a large army of gummybear soldiers, trained and ready to fight. The next morning, after Frank and Bill had had a good rest, the Sourpatch council sent them on their way to the other gummybear group.
Upon arriving at the colony, the two travel-worn gummybears immediately requested to see their Queen. Ammy, the Queen of the large gummybear colony allowed them to speak their piece, finally agreeing to let their village move to the saftey of the marshes. She allowed them a month to move to the premises, and then the aide of her army if they were attacked by the humanoid beings.
